Rogers ’ Positive Accomplishments Dominate Forum

Congressman Focuses on Jobs and Economy, Winning War on Terror

U.S. Representative Mike Rogers delivered a strong message of hope for the future and his commitment to serving the people of Michigan ’s 8th Congressional District during the Livingston Press & Argus candidate forum tonight.

Despite cookie-cutter negative, partisan attacks from his trial attorney opponent, Rogers focused on his own work targeting creation of Michigan jobs, a stronger Michigan economy and winning the War on Terror.

“Getting things done in Washington that benefit Michigan means being able to work across the aisle to find bipartisan solutions for our nation, which is exactly the ability that Mike Rogers exhibits every day and highlighted this evening,” said Rogers’ Campaign Manager Stefani Zimmerman .

“Jim Marcinkowski focuses on petty partisan attacks while Congressman Rogers concentrates on his remarkable accomplishments and his work of building up our economy, our jobs, and our national security.”

Rogers talked about working to find real solutions for the problems faced by Michigan workers, including improving health care, moving America toward using U.S. grown and manufactured alternative fuels and less dependence on foreign oil, stopping Canadian trash, and aggressively prosecuting the War on Terror.

“In one of the most partisan years in the history of the Congress, Mike Rogers has gotten six bills adopted by the U.S. House, all of them with bipartisan support,” Zimmerman pointed out.

Rogers ’ legislation adopted by the House includes measures to boost the production, manufacturer and distribution of ethanol; make health care more accessible through health savings accounts and health information technology improvements; protect Americans against bio-terrorism and pandemic outbreaks; stop Canadian trash from coming into Michigan ; and protect the dignity of military families at funerals.

Rogers himself, refusing to participate in his opponent’s gutter-style politics, talked instead about working to get Michigan working, about securing our nation from terrorists who want our nation to falter and fail, and about accomplishing amazing things when we work together rather than tear each other apart.

“The contrast between the Congressman and his opponent could not have clearer than it was on that forum stage tonight,” Zimmerman concluded.  “Mike Rogers offers solutions and hope to Michigan families.  He believes in public service and is committed to working for the people he represents.”
