National Party Leaders Abandon Eighth District Democrat Challenger
Today, even the left-leaning New York Times acknowledged what citizens in
Michigan
have known for years, that Congressman Mike Rogers is an accomplished and popular leader who enjoys broad bipartisan support throughout
Michigan
’s Eighth District and is set for another landslide re-election to Congress.
According to the October 7 New York Times article “Battling Power of Incumbency, and Feeling Left to Fight Alone,” national Democrat organizations have abandoned Rogers’ party-switching opponent, deputy city attorney Jim Marcinkowski.
Marcinkowski, noting that “no one … even sent him flowers to say goodbye” said national party leaders “abandoned him” and that “calls from the Congressional committee’s officials pretty much stopped.”
“While we understand the reasons for the Democrat retreat in the face of Congressman Rogers numerous legislative accomplishments, community activism, and widespread grassroots support, we still look forward to running a positive, issue-focused campaign that Michigan families can be proud of,” said Stefani Zimmerman, Rogers’ campaign manager.
Zimmerman noted that as part of Congressman Rogers’ issues-based campaign, the campaign unveiled a new advertisement during today’s
Michigan-Michigan
